African Elephant bull, Lower Zambezi Zambia.

We were watching first bubbles, and then this hump in the Zambezi River and suddenly up pops this beauty!  he had been completely submerged and seemed to be having the time of his life! 

40D. Sigma 100-300F4 + 1.4TC.  ISO 400. F8.

Carol,
This is quite possibly my favorite animal species... I think of them as noble survivors (apologies for the anthropomorphism). Your story really supports the photograph...

What a great experience, I didn't realize they would totally submerge like that. He looks like one huge bull, and the way you have him tightly framed emphasizes that.
