As I was about to call it a day this morning, the summer coat on this buck caught my eye through the branches of a group of young pines. It was interesting to see the deer activity this morning, even at 10:30 and 11 am, as it was pushing 85 degrees and rising quickly (I had just watched two does move through a bean field). As I was passing by, this buck stood up and allowed me to snap a quick photo between the branches before slowly trotting off. After realizing that he was not totally spooked, I hoofed it up the road, catching up to him as he stopped in the middle of an overgrown fire lane not far away, where he posed for a quick shoot before disappearing into the brush. What an unexpected treat. While his antlers are not fully grown, this was the first time that I had seen this large of a buck, in full velvet, with my camera. C&C welcome.

Thank you, both. I was fortunate to have been in the right place with the right equipment.
