Very nice shot of this restful pose -- would prefer that the tip of the tail were visible but it's a fine shot as presented.

Woke up one morning with a young one of these headfirst in the house trash can.
They are a beautiful animal and I much prefer seeing it through your image. Nice shot.

That is amazing, I have never seen that kind of behavior on anteaters before, are you sure it was not a raccoon or coati perhaps? And I agree with you wild animals looks much better in their wild habitat!

Only a Tamandua has those claws, and that made a big impression !  We had Coatis and strange little skunks visit as well.
It was a young one for sure and could have followed ants or termites. No cell phones in those days!

Wonderful behaviour illustration - and doesn't it look so relaxed perched in that tree! It would be nice to have all the tail but not easy to do with these long tailed species and I love the way the tail is wrapped around the branch as an anchor. Great shot Jeff!

Very cool critter and shot.
What I sometimes do if I can't get the whole animal in the shot and it is not moving is I take two shots and stitch them together, Such an "animal pano" might have let you include the entire tail here. Just a suggestion.

Thanks so much Carol, I must confess that I was shooting from a bridge and there was no space to back off and he was so close that it didn't fit in the frame   next time I hope  :P
