Marine Striped Catfish, Plotosus lineatus, travel across the reef in a large ball made up of hundreds of 3-4" individuals. The effect is a large black mass rolling like a beach ball, putting off most predators. If that isn't enough, they have poisonous spines.
D2xs, 60mm macro, ISO 200, 1/250, f22, Aquatica housing, Inon strobes.

Well done. Getting one moving fish in focus can be hard; more than one even more difficult. You nailed it.

Nicely done Stan! Love how these guys just crawl over the reef feeding.

Nicely done Stan! You got a good shot here, and that's not easy with a large shoal like this. I love those sensory barbels - they're almost neon-blue! This looks great when you click on it. I really like this a lot!

Incredible composition Stan! I really love it...I love fish actually and not on my plate. I know as you know they are individuals as other animals are and exhibit personality. I don't know about overkill in PS on this one as underwater stuff is so different with the artificial lighting and all but I totally love this image regardless!

Where was this taken at????

Thanks all. Paul this was taken in the Philippines.
BTW I process in LR but very little is done with these images. They of course start as RAW and need the usual adjustments. What made this image stand out for me, from several taken, was the number of eyes that were sharp.

I know exactly how difficult dof can be underwater and you did a fine job here. Luv the shot and thanks for the heads up on location...
