Hello NatureScapers...

The forum is very active today and its great to see all the traffic here.

This is an image from the May trip to Custer State Park. At the Wind Cave end of the wildlife loop there is a very large prairie dog town. Ignoring the high risk of infestation with multiple types of ectoparasites, I lay flat on the ground and made a few p dog images late in the afternoon. The babies start to stray a little to feed and play from the burrow, only to be called back...

Thanks for looking and any comments or suggestions..

Super cute - love the open mouth. Next time you are in AZ, I can point you to a spot to shoot these guys in a desert environment.

Too cute! Beautiful light and nice pose. I like the curve of the dirt.

"high risk of infestation with multiple types of ectoparasites"

Hope you're not ectoparasitically plagued! Love the warning cry look and that tiny ear. Nice the way the background sets off the prairie dog.

Dennis, I like how you framed this with the curve of the dirt, bit of grass, and soft background. It shows just enough to give a feel for the habitat, and the open mouth is great.

I hope you didn't get Lyme disease from your encounter with ectoparasites.

Dennis,
Another great photo. I was afraid of the fleas so I have nothing this good.

Great catch. Very nicely done. What's a few fleas when the rewards are like this?

This is a really great image--Getting low makes a big difference. I have many images of these guys from up high on the tripod. I really wanted to get low when I was at Custer S.P. but our group leaders advised against it.

I wish I was in Custer at this time of year again!

I love this one Dennis. The low angle, the diffused light with soft colors and of course the cute little prairie dog. It would not have 'bugged' me to get down on the ground if I could get shots like this. Congrats on a really great image.

This is no joke Dennis, but the expression here is "identical" to my 11 year old son's expression when he sees Cameron Diaz on television or the big screen!!
I will say that he is a "chip off the ol' block!"

You continue to show us all some of the most well balanced lighting with your shots along with the detail throughout where it counts most.
Then, there is habitat ............... then there is "habitat."
Yours seems to accentuate the main subject more than most, and/or, like icing on the cake! :)

Continue on my friend.
You can knock me dead anytime!! 8)
