Canon 1D
600f4 IS +1.4 TC
Evaluative Metering -2/3
ISO 250
Levels/Saturation adjustment in PS7.

Taken on the Teller Road in Nome, Alaska, on last June's Arthur Morris IPT. These animals were a really neat surprise. They were big and very tolerant yet I did want these animals angry at me. I am not wild about the framing of the shot on the right hand side--but like the look on the face as he/she sucks in breakfast.

I would appreciate any comments and welcome any reposts.

A nice image. I'm seeing a yellow cast to it on my monitor.

Harvey:

I agree it does look to have a yellow cast--It looked fine to me earlier before posting. Let me see if I can figure out what I did wrong...

Tell me if this looks a bit better. I used the grey eyedropper on the neutral grey of his horn.

Rocky, a very nice photo, especially with the sharp eye, tongue action and curved horns. The repost definitely looks better to me.

Nice shot but as you said a bit tight on the right. Repost is better.

Nice image of an animal I would really like to see in the wild. I like him surrounded in the green.

Thanks for contributing to the FFM forum. Excellent shot IMHO. I really like the action and the surrounding green. I like tightly composed pictures so the comp works for me. Second repost looks pretty good for colors and nice and sharp. Do you remember the ss, looks like it was dark and I am wondering what it takes to stop chewing motion.. Thanks Rocky..

Rocky, What a cool creature. I like the chewing action. Don't mind the crop.

Nicely framed and I like the feeding action. The repost is much better- thanks for the extra effort. Good job on the exposure- there was a lot of contrast to deal with. Hopefully we'll get to see more.

Like the chewing and the way the eye is trying to catch a view of the food. Repost appears to clear up the color issue. It is a bit tight but that moves my eye right to the mouth which I think is what you want. Nicely done.

Thanks for the repost--It looks much better.

Dennis:

Breezebrowser is telling me the SS was 1/250 @ F5.6. I shot evaluative @-2/3. I several shots around this shutter speed this is by far the sharpest.

These guys were an added bonus to some amazing birds in Nome. At first they were just sort of novelties so we tended use flight lenses hand held. As I recall,. It was Artie's idea to use the big lenses this day.

They seemed really comfortable with us--and on one occasion laid down for a siesta.
