Siberian Tiger (captive) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA
EOS 1v, 600mm, 1/400, f/8, Provia 100F @ ISO 200

With all of the fantastic big cat shots posted recently, I went through my files to see what I have. Unfortunately my shots are of captive animals from our local zoo.

Thanks for a great cat image. Please dont apologize for captives. Can be very difficult in certain situations to get good shots under the conditions.. No nits here. Wonderful light!

I love big cats and this one is no exception. I'd only wish for a bit more room on the bottom.

I love shooting in the zoo, it gives me shots I’d have to pay heavy money for in the wild :) This cat is very cool and its facial expression is priceless. To me the way you placed him in the frame is excellent.

Best,
Sven

The cat is fantstic, and the BG extraordenary, but... :D that dark spot in the BG on his right ear is a little distracting.
Monique, I am packed and ready to go, I may not look like much but I am well behaved and can grow on you like a fungus, with no cure for it!!!

Please dont apologise for pictures of captive animals in zoos. If it werent for these animals some of us would never see anything but words and pictures. The tiger picture is beautiful.

Nice looking cat. I like the way you have the BG blurred. Great detail on teh cat (it looks hot, must be the PHX weather).

Just look at that big old tongue. This is a really pretty kitty captured with your usual elegance. When I opened this I instantly thought 'film'.

Great look and great background. Only way I could tell from the shot that it's in a zoo is that you're alive to tell about it!

Well done portrait EJ. Poor kitty looks a little warm.

It was about 115 in the shade when I took this so probably more like 130+ in the sun, The tiger was sitting next to a watering hole that circulates cold water and had just taken a drink.

Great looking tiger, and good background colors to go with it. I like the little bit of grass in the lower left.

Whether Captive or wild, the quality of the image and photographer either will or won't shine through and in this case my compliments on both EJ. Stunning image in gorgeous light!!

Superb!
