Little frustrated here having lost cable connection again! But wanted to post something. Serengeti, June 2002. Typical view of a lion, perhaps sleeping but still alert - and hosting flies.

D60, 100-400, 2x, 1/250, f11, ISO 800 (pushing the limits on light)

I hope you get the cable back ASAP. Know the frustration.. Like the different view here. Slight blue cast, easily warmed up.. Detail and exposure excellent...

Rich, I like the unusual perspective here. I really like the dreamy, relaxed expression. It looks like this guy has been in a few fights.

Now that is up close and personal! Nice view. Seeing this, I think I'll go post a female I have that is 'lion' around like this. I hope you get your cable back soon.

That is a very powerful image. The eye contact really makes the photo.

It's amazing how different this looks when you view it tilting your head to the right. Almost unrecognizable really. The eyes are amazing and his scarred face adds a ton of character. I really like unique shots like this. :)

I really like this shot- certainly different. The eyes really pull you into the picture.

Good detail for ISO 800 and a 2x TC!

Was this chap on an embankment or did you take the chance and got out on your knees? If the later, those eyes says "Do not dare to get any closer because I love my afternoon nap and you just intruded"

They say you get two types of lions in Africa. The upright type and the flat type. The flat type is seen a lot more than the upright type

A different perspective and I like it.

ROFL! There's no way that I'm opening the door let alone getting out! We actually backed away from this guy so that I could put the 2x on and cut the angle to make it look like it's eyeball to eyeball. (I've got 2x on and much tighter - just the eyes in a vertical - but I don't think it has the same impact.

I like the close-up look, and those eyes really do pull you in. Very well done, Rich.
