This badger, while not friendly (what badger is?), was at least tolerant of humans and permitted relatively close approach. Canon Eos 1V, Canon 70-200/2.8. P100F, hand held, no flash. Aperture and shutter speed not recorded. Cropped slightly on the right. Any critiques, revisions welcome.

I don't think I've ever seen a picture of a Badger before. I appreciate being able to see one.

Great shot and the people from Wisconsin will be loving it.. I once saw one of these in the wild in Bloomington, when I was taking pictures of birds. Kind of startled me... I think the flowers add a great deal and you have left room for the subject to look to his/her right .. Exposure wise, maybe just a third less, as there is a little loss of detail over the eye..although it is very likely this could have happened in the scan process.. It looks like he/she is sniffing the flowers and I think this is the first badger picture I have seen here.. Thanks for the post.

I have never seen one of these either. I really like the unique animal and the fact that he looks to be sniffing the posies. :) Although I wish the oof grasses weren't there I still think this is pretty nice.

The flowers are a nice touch for such a fiersome critter! I like your composition with the body coming from the upper right corner.

The flowers are a colorful touch. I like the dirt on its nose- not doubt where it makes a living.

Thanks for posting this guy- nice to see something different.

The only badger I've ever seen was very snarly and fierce, not something I'd want to try to photograph. This one sniffing the flowers makes me think that there's another side to them! The dirty nose adds a lot of interest. Thanks for sharing this!

Sure are different to our Badgers, I'll have to dig one of my shots out now ;)

Nice shot Joseph, like the action and sideways pose.

Love the dirt on its nose, the flowers, even the OOF grass - since they all suggest a badger in its habitat. Only nit is the small in focus twig at the bottom middle which I would be sorely tempted to clone out.

Neat shot, Joseph. You're lucky to have found one that let you get this close! I think this is a pretty cool shot, for all the reasons already mentioned.
