These horses are some of the most beautiful wild horses I have ever seen.

They are beautiful. I like how the little one is taking a break to check you out. Are these from New Mexico wild horse management areas?

Actually, they are sometimes on Tribal lands near the highway and at other times on the adjacent private lands.

Dear Joe:

Beautiful image. The light and the little one looking at you make this image in my view.

Best Regards,

Roman :-)

They do have nice conformation and pretty markings. The sweet light shows them off beautifully here Joe and the foal has lifted its head to create more interest - perhaps you could make a noise like a sack of oats?.......

Been there, done that! The slightest disturbance and they turn and run. Even the noise of crossing a barbed wire fence spooks them. I have had them at about 20 yards undisturbed, but with the drought as bad as it is, I choose not to disturb them too much. Sometimes people bring them water and feed to help them survive. This past year was the hottest one on record and the drought has spanned many years. There are other areas I can go, but these are really grab shots when I'm passing through with my Sony P&S or if I have my Nikon with me.
This is a mare, her yearling and her newer foal.

Yes, I thought I was looking at three generations here. Certainly very good for passing through shots, we all know the hours/days of observation that can be put in to capture those 'special' moments of behaviour that set the bar so high! At least you respect their space and cause the least disturbance - if only others were so considerate of wildlife.

Sweet! The foal really takes the cake with that inquiring look. Lovely light.

They are very pretty and the foal is so darn cute! I like that it's giving you a looking-over. The light is sweet.

Beautiful image of some lovely animals. We don't see this kind of color variation in the herds along the coast of North Carolina.
