Another photo that I'm recycling. This was taken while kayaking near Chenega Glacier in Prince William Sound. It was so much fun hanging out with the seals and having them approach us. This one frequently peeked over chunks of ice to check us out.

Canon Elan 7e, 100-400 IS @ 400 and f5.6, Provia 100 pushed to 200, handheld from kayak. Thanks for your comments and feedback!

Great shot. I like the exposure, the placement, and the eye contact. The only thing I think could be improved is the flatness of the light and I'm not sure what you could do about that beside try again on another day.

Cute! I like the composition here. I believe I have seen this one before, but it's good to see it again. :)

I've seen this one before. I love this shot. A little work with curves could really take this one to the next level.

Thanks so much for the feedback! :D

Could someone shed a bit of light on what kind of curves adjustment would be helpful? More contrast? Less? Brighter or darker in some area?

Kelly---very nice composition. The image appears to be cropped which does bring out the grain. In Curves, if you anchor the center point, then click an anchor onto the adjacent vertical axis and pull down a point (where the horizontal and vertical lines intersect) only far enough to darken the shadows a tiny bit. Conversely, the highlights will increase with no other action. Click OK. Then toggle back and forth to see the difference. Revert the image or step back a step on the history palette if you don't like what you see. This is only one method to adjust contrast. Hope that helps. :)

Juli, Thanks! I really couldn't tell what sort of adjustment was recommended, and I do think that helps a bit.

Very nice shot Kelly. I like the comp and the seals pose a lot. I agree a little PS work could add a little more life to an already sweet shot.
