From a trip to the LA Zoo a couple of years ago. I can't recall the specs, but it was shot on Provia 100f with my trusty old Canon 500mm f/4.5 and probably a 1.4x TC. Most likely it was shot at evaluative minus 1/3 - 2/3, overcast day, no fill.

The eyes make this one. A really cool shot. Stopping down a bit would make it even better by attaining more DOF.

Neat shot Lillian. Those eyes are definitely intense. I would consider cropping most of the body on the left so the shot is more vertical. This would emphasize the head and eyes even more. This would be really dramatic blown up to about 8x10 or 11 x 14.

The intensity of the eyes is incredible. The placement in the frame of the subject works very well (eyes in the upper right quadrant.

Reminds of the statue by Rodin by the same name. Intense look on this creature.

Simple and expressive. The face says it all. One could wish he was looking the other way. If that is his hand and finger I'd wish to include just a tad more. Effective shot!

Cool shot LR and thanks for posting. LG's really have an intense and interesting face. I had an opportunity to do some close up face shots a year ago...The inclusion of the finger adds to the strength IMHO.. Well done.
