This was taken from a tundra buggy. Early pack ice had begun to form along the shore. There was a fresh blood trail on the ice which was probably from an earlier seal kill. Most bears passing by this spot would check out the trail. This mother had two cubs but I only have one in this frame with her. They had a number of unintentional swims as they came across the ice packs. It was great to watch.

Canon D30, 400mm 2.8IS, 1.4X, ISO 200, 1/350 sec., f9.5, Groofwin window mount with a beanbag. This is the full frame.

This is beautifully timed and composed. I'm betting the exposure takes a bit of thought up there with the white-on-white and frequent overcast conditions!

I think this is an extremely well done image, perfect exposure, good light for the subject and wonderful composition/interaction. F9.5 nailed both sharp. Wow.. Good going

Great shot. Did they climb on the tundra buggy as I saw some another time?
It is exciting to see them . Thanks for sharing this.

Very, very nice Steve! I'll go out on a limb here and say it's "picture perfect!" Exposure looks right on and that must not have been easy in this situation. I LOVE the way the smaller bear is peeking out from behind the bigger one. This is just a pleasure to look at. :)

Great shot Steve. I love it. It was quite a lot of fun watching the bears walk across the ice, especially some of the unintentional swims.
