Polar Bear
Churchill, Manitoba 2002

I had a request for some polar bears, so I will join Cindy in posting some images from our trip to Churchill in 2002. I think Steve mentioned he might be posting some as well. This week goes to all the bears of all colors!!!

This was taken from a very decrepid old Suburban that Steve, Cindy and I were shooting from. This large male had recently consumed a seal and would occasionally take a break from his napping to stretch and yawn or roll. We stayed with him for the better part of the afternoon.

Great image Cheryl. This does bring back memories. This was a great photo series. This bear was huge and the light as sweet as a gets. I'll get motivated to post one tomorrow.

This is so neat... I laughed out loud when it loaded. It'd be great if that bush wasn't in the way, but it doesn't detract much.

Nah, you wouldn't think Lillian's seal is inside the bear stretching like...
Nah, no way. This is great.

Cheryl,
A fine photo and a nice example of the lighter side of nature to contrast with some of the less happy images we sometimes record.

I love it! It looks like one of my cats scratcing his back!

Who organized the trip? Did you organize it yourself or go with a tour company? I have always wanted to see polar bears in the wild!
