Hi, Jason! Nice shot of a ground squirrel, actually. (Golden-mantled GS?) THey are irresistable subjects! FWIW, this looks a little soft on my monitor, and I wish the tail were included. It would also be great if we could get down on "eye level" with the little guy. They're fairly fearless, so next time try some contorsions and get that camera on teh ground! :-)

Lillian,
The slide of this guy is not too much better, my scanner is not the best. I too wish I had his tail in here, but grrrrrr, my photo skills are still weak in most areas. Just as looking at it now, I see a ground shot would have been better. I end up getting a little caught up in the moment and forget most every thing that would help me make a better shot. I guess thats why they say "live and learn". But I am a slow learner with this stuff...lol

Thank you for your reply. :D

A cute little guy - it needs some sharpening as it appears a little soft here.

Jason,
Keep shooting, keep posting, and you'll be amazed at how rapidly you progress with individuals like Lillian to point out the subtle areas that need work. This photo has an endearing quality about it and the next one you shoot will undoubtedly be better yet.

I think Lillian covered everything I saw.

The first thing I said to myself when I opened it was "That's not a chipmunk!" But Lillian already got that part. Can't tell from the photo, but GMGS are usually quite a bit larger than chipmunks--the way to tell, though, is to look at the face; the lack of markings means it's not a chipmunk.
