The Russian Destroyer "356" was sunk several years ago off the island of Cayman Brac. The bow is in 90' of water. I was the first to get down and waited for other divers to come by for composition. I was lucky they were at this position, since it was not set up. There is a good amopunt of marine growth on the bow, but at this distance, only a little of the yellow at the bow is evident.

Hi Steve,

Nice shot, did you try a strobe with this? I do see a bit of backscatter. There's a technique that's being discussed on wetpixel.com about using colour correction filters to enhance natural light shots...I've ordered a few Lee filters to try on my next trip....the techinique looks very promissing.

Stu,
I have been using red filters on my U/W video for 10 plus years. They work to a depth and then you are out of red. They do wonders when shallower. I don't think it would have made any difference with this. My video housing maker uses square filters and cements them to a round item made to fit on the outside of the housing. Not a difficult thing to do. I have not been shooting u/w still for a long time, but went to Cayman Brac and rekindled my interest. I am going again next month.
I do not remember leaving the flash on for this shot. There would have been more backscatter if I had done so since the bottom stirred up so easily. I was careful, though. Next time I will get interiors.

Great place.

This is really nice Steve and something a little different for this forum. I think the divers in the frame really make this work. Wouldn't be as interesting or as well-composed without them.
