I have had many people ask me which Death Valley image is my favorite. This is the one. I love the early AM (7:15 AM) golden light the curves of the dunes, the deep shadows created by the sunlight illuminating the face of the dunes and the two hikers giving scale. The dark background is a mountain range many miles away. I was a few dunes removed from this scene on another when I noticed the hikers. The hikers are just on the shadow line so the sand on their path doesn’t show footprints. Fortunately, I had my R5 with 100-500 and shot at 500mm to get the framing I wanted. For all the dune images I shot and processed a bit under exposed to maintain color and get good saturation. This one will hang in our living room.
