Very strange effects, Mary!  I thought you were going to say this was a reflection in the water with the 'shimmering' appearance.  :)

It does look quite ghostly!

I don't really understand how this is produced, but it is certainly effective! Very ghostly!

I played with this technique for the last time on this occasion, where Milan in Christmas 2009
was dressed in numerous light installations. Even the Castello Sforzesco had completely illuminated parts.
If I remember right, and please someone to correct me if I'm wrong,
this kind of image is obtained in the camera by setting a shutter speed sufficiently slow
and rotating the zoom while shooting.
The trails are obtained from the different focal lengths impressed simultaneously on the sensor.
I hope I was able to explain myself correctly as my English is not very good. :oops:
