As we commemorate Armistice Day, we can also reflect on the scars various conflicts have left on the landscape - in this instance an invasion barrier at the causeway crossing to Lindisfarne.
It is hard to imagine a more peaceful place, and yet here, the threat of devastation leaves a powerful reminder of man's inhumane cruelty to one another.

What a powerful and poignant reminder. Thank you! The clouds say a lot too-from darkness to light, perhaps.

A very powerful image that speaks volumes today of all days. The larger view is well worth a look for the full effect.

Thank you all for your kind comments - it's very easy to forget how fortunate we are to have such an extended time of peace.
I hope future generations will be guided by this motto: "I'm from the postwar generation and I intend to keep it that way!"

Take care and have a good WE.

Really a meaningful image that you have processed in an adequately dramatic way. The sky is part of it.
