(Five vertical exposures to create the panorama.)

Back on July 22, 2010 on my way to Salem from Bend, OR (I had just retired from teaching in LAUSD and was looking for a condo to buy that I could afford) I stopped at Black Butte just to stretch my legs and see if there were any views on the top. The cabin is private property (I have no idea how that came about) and I thought it would make an interesting juxtaposition (or combination if you will) against the background of a couple Cascade volcanoes (Three-fingered Jack just behind the cabin and Mount Jefferson to the right).

Here's the larger image (which I've dehazed a bit in PS):

What a spectacular sight! I wonder if someone lives there all year. A magnificent view, and I find the cabin interesting with a bit of everything-solar, gas and wood, it seems. Oh, yes...and an outhouse! :) You go to the most amazing places! Great shot!

David, Ron, Carol, and Cynthia,

Thanks for the positive comments.

I just did a quick look on Wikipedia regarding Black Butte. Looks like the cabin is no more.
