Panasonic GF1, 14-45 f/3.5-5.6 @14mm. 1/600 sec., f/6.3, ISO: 200.

A week or so after retiring I was at Yosemite. I was thinking about doing Half Dome but chickened out. I just went as far as Nevada Fall instead. The next day I climbed up from the valley floor to Glacier Point as my "exercise" hike :) . On my way to Nevada Fall of course I was at Vernal Fall. This is a panorama from 8 exposures at the top of the fall.

Here's the larger image:

Again, I hope I haven't posted this image before. I'm not sure how to check that on this site.

Great shot with the rainbow in the falls-love the larger version. Must have been a thrill to see.

This is some perspective - and some view, Mike!  Great detail in the larger view showing the tiny people walking along under the rainbow. :)

I must be missing the human element here. It seems this should be in the landscape gallery. Love the shot. ersonal preference would be for a slower shutter speed but some prefer freezing the water as it was done here.

E.J.,

Thanks.

I enjoyed viewing other photographers work with the "silky" water look back then - I just hadn't used it myself. I'm nearly certain I was not hiking with a tripod when I created this image so I didn't even consider a slower shutter speed doing my usual hand-held panoramas.

As to the "human element" .... Here's a crop:
