One of my favorite easy hikes (more like a stroll in the woods) is the Opal Creek Trail to the Opal Pool and Jawbone Flats. Jawbone flats was an old mining town now with some summer cottages. It only gains and loses 200 feet in the 6 mile round trip so it really is an easy walk but such a pleasant, beautiful one. Some very old growth trees still existed there - at least until last month. Many of the buildings in Jawbone flats were lost to the fire. I'm assuming, based on the reporting, that much - but not all - of the forest was damaged. In any case I'm posting an image of a small section of the creek to give you an idea of the pretty, clear water.
