One of my favorite easy hikes (more like a stroll in the woods) is the Opal Creek Trail to the Opal Pool and Jawbone Flats. Jawbone flats was an old mining town now with some summer cottages. It only gains and loses 200 feet in the 6 mile round trip so it really is an easy walk but such a pleasant, beautiful one. Some very old growth trees still existed there - at least until last month. Many of the buildings in Jawbone flats were lost to the fire. I'm assuming, based on the reporting, that much - but not all - of the forest was damaged.

In any case I'm posting an image of a small section of the creek to give you an idea of the pretty, clear water.

And here are a few more images from that sylvan walk:

The color of the water is amazing besides being so clear. You took a very nice vertical image to show the beauty of the creek as it flows through the forest. Hopefully not much was damaged in the fires, it would be a real tragedy to the old growth trees as well as the other wildlife.

Always good to see nice clear water, Mike - and what a lovely colour, presumably from mineral deposits. I hope the area isn't too devastated by the fires and their awful destruction.

Thanks for the "tour"- such lovely green water-looks so fresh and inviting. Sad to think any of this might have been destroyed. Let's hope not.....
