A surfer patiently waits for a lull in the waves so that he can jump off the end of the point to get into the water at Victoria Bay, Southern Cape, South Africa.

Good depth and perspective with really nice wave action, Gavin. I hope he doesn't jump in and come hurtling back towards those rocks!

Those waves look serious! Agree with Carol- the rocks look treacherous too. Did you see him jump in? Must have been quite an event. Nicely done.

I like the compression. It gives a feel of the power this young man is up against. Great story!
A great photograph is absorbed by the eyes and stored in the heart.

The keyword here is patience. All one has to do is wait patiently for a quiet period between sets of waves. Once in the water, the paddle to safety is a relatively short one. People do this all the time, as this is the only way to enter the water at this popular surfing spot, and very few of them get it wrong.
