Since this is largely a cultivated field and with the windmill pulling the eye, I'm going to move this to the Travel & Culture section since the landscape section excludes photos where man made stuff is primary in the photograph. i do love the shot and really like the sunlit fields against the dark and ominous background.

Thanks. I'm still getting to know the ins and outs of the site. I will bear the man-made issue in mind when I next post a photograph.

Welcome, Gavin!

I love your composition with the perfect placement of the straw bales and the windmill, while the play of sunlight on the landscape under that dark and brooding sky is really beautiful. Well done.

Hi Gavin,

what a lovely landscape - terrific dram and light - makes my quite homesick!

Best, Sinuhe

Wonderful light and interplay between the dark and light. Another warm welcome to NSN. Perhaps one of the most striking thoughts, is this scene, could be anywhere in the globe. (cultured fields, and hay...). Nicely done

What a striking shot! The colors are magical, as is the mood and composition. A big welcome to NSN- looking forward to more. Congratulations on your Editor's Pick!

P.S. What canera/lense/settings did you use? People love to get that information. :)

Hi, this pic was taken with a Pentax K7 using a Pentax 18-55 lens. I am currently using a Canon 80D.

Gorgeous light and contrasting colours - a very beautiful image.

Nice contrast between the bright foreground and dark skies. Great that the windmill has light on it. I do wish that the light kissed a bit more of the hills, but there's nothing you can do to control that!
