This is a composite of 9 images all shot with Nikon D750 & 24-70 f2.8 lens.
The B/G was shot at 15 sec, f 2.8 with ISO set to 2500.
All other shots where 15 sec, f5.6, ISO 500. 8 shots where taken to paint the tower, {it is painted green for real} with a gelled torch and White Bal set to 4000.

Finding subjects to shoot is rather hard and here in Australia we have finished peak milkyway season plus getting clear sky's in winter is another challenge.

I am enjoying learning a new area of photography. This image is my very first effort.

My first thought was, I wish the tower wasn't quite so prominent, and we could see more of the night sky above - for the feel of space infinity. However, I do like what you've done with the perspective and lighting, and if this is a first effort, then Well Done, Kim!

I agree, great first effort, Kim. I love the stars and sky and feel you could make them stand out more by reducing the exposure a little on the tower and grass area. Excellent first effort and a striking nightscape, as is.

Thanks Carol and Ron. There really isn't much colour or sparkle to the sky as there is no core visible at this time and direction in the southern hemisphere. It looks more alive in the full sized version. It is the original background exposure and the lighted tower is masked onto the b/G with 8 separate exposures painting with a torch. It is a light painting image rather than an astro image.

I will try a version with the exposure toned down on the tower.

I rather like the bright tower! It looks sort of eerie. That said, I suppose the sky could be improved a bit. A very nice experiment!
