Their fates intertwined with their surroundings...both are wearing shackles...one of duty and the other of chains...without any one of them, the surroundings will die..because, like the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary here, there are many places where there are no roads or accessibility. They are the only guardians standing between the greed of man (whether poachers or encroachers) and the destruction of the natural resources. Seldom appreciated, misunderstood, they are the foot soldiers of conservation.
