Their fates intertwined with their surroundings...both are wearing shackles...one of duty and the other of chains...without any one of them, the surroundings will die..because, like the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary here, there are many places where there are no roads or accessibility. They are the only guardians standing between the greed of man (whether poachers or encroachers) and the destruction of the natural resources. Seldom appreciated, misunderstood, they are the foot soldiers of conservation.

What a beautiful and touching photo and tribute, Pralay. The golden light behind them is so magical. Your story is so heartbreaking! I, like many , am only marginally aware of what is going on in your part of the world, but it is clear that people who are still trying to protect what is left of a dying wilderness are critically important. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, they serve a lot for conservation, an amazing shot and true story behind it.

An evocative image, Pralay. A tree can not survive without solid root systems, and these foot soldiers are indeed the vital foundation of the precarious stand against man's destruction of our natural world.
