Nice action shot Sandy. I  think Coast Guard also train in these boats at Columbia Bar in Astoria , Oregon. Columbia Bar is one the the roughest in the world.

Ludo, you're right - most of the US Coast Guard stations use these boats, among others. They self-right within 30 seconds if capsized.
Amazing to watch!

Very impressive detail, Sandy. That lens and camera appear to be a great match. Dave is also using them with great success. Wonderful image!!!!!

I like this much better than the one posted here because it is cleaner. The one linked to is more dramatic, but this is really nice.

Joe, thanks for remembering the first one! The first was chosen for the 2018  Oregon Coast Magazine, as well as for an article in our local newspaper.  This current image will be published in 2 months.

Wow- amazing action! Glad I'm not on that boat. This is a wonderful shot- glad you're enjoying the lens and the D850. Love the one Joe refers to as well- lots of drama there. Must be wonderful to see these boats in action-especially if one goes under and pops up again!

I see the local Coast Guard out of Grand Haven MI out in these same boats all the time for training and rescues on Lake Michigan. Amazing boats for our amazing Coast Guard willing to go out in the worst water conditions to rescue others. Great action shot.
