Shot few days ago. I was shooting Snow Geese in nearby fields not too far from my house. The air was clear and crisp with a great visibility. The Mount Baker (state Washington. USA) in the distance was about 35-40 miles away ...rough estimate. I was shooting with SIGMA 500mm f/4.5 EX DG HSM. Colors were not that great since this was shot early morning, so I tuned down saturation making it B/W.

You did very well turning this into B/W-Very striking contrasts and a strong feel for the huge mountain in the background giving everything a sense of proportion. The church is especially appealing, pointing skyward to the mountain. This must be a spectacular place to live!

I really like this shot...well processed. Are those clearcuts (awfully large) or fires?

Thank you for the kind words. Those are clearcuts. We very rarely get forest fires in Western Washington, but Eastern Washington gets plenty forest fires...much dryer weather over there. We get lot more rain here.

I like all the different layers in this, and you got some excellent detail throughout the scene, Ludo! It would be interesting to see the natural colour version for comparison with the black and white but its very striking as is.
