We are fortunate to live right on the southern Oregon Coast.
We've had huge storms all winter, like much of the US.
The storms this past week were just amazing - huge, huge waves and swells.
There was one day of clear weather between storms, and the Coast Guard - who have a station here in Brookings - took the opportunity to practice.
I know they love every minute of it.
There are TWO identical boats here, both the 47-foot MLB's.

(more info on these amazing self-righting boats, for those interested: http://www.uscg.mil/datasheet/47mlb.asp )

Image taken from our front deck.

This is the latest of six  I have taken that were chosen for the front page of our  local newspaper, and the Coast Guard purchased
several  3x5 foot metal prints for their new building.

Those Coast Guard boats and crews are just amazing...that photo would probably like to be hung in their office. If people want to see another spectacular area to watch the boats, Depoe Bay is amazing to watch them thread the needle surfing into the harbor.

This really takes my breath - literally. I see now the boats are same size. I bet they would appreciate seeing this. Great capture. You probably see a lot from your deck.

Mike, we used to have our boat moored there. Trying to get safely over that nasty bar, with outgoing tides, and through such a narrow passage - was NOT fun.
