(Thom Hogan) Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee

This was taken during my first photographic workshop. This is an image of the instructor getting his turn at this resting Butterfly. (I have about 16 frames before the ones of Thom of the Butterfly. :) ) It's hard to tell that this was in the GSMNP as it is in one of the picnic areas. But it still show what you do when you encounter a good opportunity.

Thom is an expert on Nikon equipment and has written several books and ebooks on the subject.

Handheld Nikon D1H, 17-35mm AFS, ISO 200, Aperture Priority, 1/30, F16 @ 30mm. Cropped about 15% from top and left.

I want a lens that focuses that close! Cool shot, Tony, hope you've shared it with Thom.

Nikon shooters especially might be interested in Thom's web site, packed with tons of Nikon info:

I'll see what I can do about working on one of mine and getting it posted. I wonder if it has to go here or in FFM because of the sidewalk?
