An abandoned homestead we found down an unmarked dirt road in central Montana, or maybe northern Wyoming. It had a mysterious feel to me (What happened to the occupants? my writerly mind wanted to know, or invent...) that I was having trouble capturing on film, so I deliberately tilted the camera to a diagonal. Then in PS I played with the Channel Mixer, setting it to Monotone, then increasing Red and Green but reducing Blue to negative 18 or so. Then I deliberately oversharpened to emphasize the scraggly foliage in front. I considered darkening the sky but thought that might be overkill. Any thoughts?

Given the little story on why and how you took this Lillian, it works for me very well. Though at first glance without reading your post, i wasnt sure about the tilt factor. In short, i like this alot, very nice image and presentation imo!!

Robert,
She was drinking and just wanted to make an excuse because she thought the horizon was straight.
All kidding aside, this is neat. THat was an interesting place. I have some closeups of the building and should post them. Great place, not sure if we could find it again. next time with GPS. And she was sober, but very creative.
Am I right that there is some way to attach the GPS to the image with a 1Ds or another camera?

In a Halloween sort of way this is really cool. It gives me a sort of Norman Bates or Hotel California vibe! You should have posted this on 10/31.

Spooky old place, isn't it? I like your PS work and the story behind it. I am wondering how it would look with a more subtle tilt. Just enough to keep the scene off balance.

The tilt is interesting. I agree that a smaller tilt might be a little nicer though I admire your experementation.

Neat shot and I like the way the scraggly foliage and shrubs complement the house. The horizon does bother me though. I suspect that you want it far from horizontal so the "level police" don't assume it's a mistake, but this tilt doesn't work for me. I'm not sure whether I want substantially less tilt or whether the lines inherent in the composition here are working against your desire to tilt.
