Aleut Island on Uyak Bay- Uyak Bay, Kodiak, Alaska

Still pristine and serene just like eons ago, if not for the rare float plane or boat coming to this place there is only the wind to serenade your soul, a few birds here and there but not many, As peaceful and restive as a mother's embrace, So far and different and yet so familiar to the inner man, A place in our minds that we rarely find any more in our daily lives!!
Here is a de Havillan Beaver, almost as old as I am, lovingly restored and maintained, a working float plane that see no rest during the day, manned by very able bush pilots who know this place like the back of their hands, Harry our guide and Brigid his wife talking to the always welcome pilot who drops in to say Hi!!, Reuben the black lab was a wonderful companion in out Bear treks, but he did scare all the foxes away!!!, The BG is the end of Uyak Bay!!
D1x, Raw format, Lens=28-70mm afs f/2.8-2.8, FL=28mm, Program mode, Centered weighted metering, 1/160sec SS-f/6, ISO=200, Flash D-TTL no compensation!!!
Any and all comments welcome!!!

I think this is a really cool scenic and the inclusion of the plane is neat, too. There are a lot of elements that work, but I find that foreground line to be a little distracting. A slight crop to where it meets the water makes the whole image work a bit better visually for me. But if the line has a purpose and needs to be in the image, then it should stay there, I just wasn't sure what it was for.

Wow what a great scene. Gorgeous plane and I'm glad you included some of its native haibtat too. It conveys the remoteness of the location very well. The cable thing is the only nit I can find and that could be cloned out if you wanted. Great exposure and composition.

Heather, I, Intentionally left the line in, In reality it is a way to pull the boats in and away from shore, Due to the twenty foot tide of the place, this rigging system is needed to keep the boats accessible all the time, without it you are at the mercy of the tides, If you lived in Kodiak this setup would be immediately recognizable!!, Hope this helps!!, I do like the rope since I know what's the use is!!!

Oh, okay. Now knowing the purpose of the rope makes it fit better for me (actually it was kind of cool to find out about) and makes it an important inclusion. Thanks for taking the time to explain! :)

I like this very much, and learning about the line makes it interesting to me, but seeing it in this image, with no reference point, is still distracting. Cropping or cloning it out pulls the visible scene together for me. The plane, the people and the BG scenery tell a great story but the rope, even knowing why it's there, makes it harder for me to appreciate the grandeur of the image.
