It's really hard to find old wooden structures here in Florida as they rot very quickly. I came across this one afer being told about it by another photographer. The light wasn't all that good so I added an old duotone tinting for hopefully a bit more character to the image.

Canon EOS 1D
Tripod
Sigma 50-500 mm.
ISO 200
Evaluative Metering -2/3
F6.4 @ 1/160 Sec.

Hi Harvey. Interestingly enough I have looked at this shot several times today. The first two times I looks at it in rooms with a relative high amount of ambient light. It looked pretty washed out and I couldn't really make out much detail. Tonight, at my monitor in a darkened room, I certainly notice more detail. I like that individual leaves can be picked out and the swooping tree leaves on the upper right hand side are really interesting. I'm still not sure about the duo-tone tinting here. I can't say that I have a lot of experience with this sort of thing but my overall impression is this: With the interesting detail in the leaves and the patters they create I personally think you still need a bit more variety to make that detail apparent. Hopefully the original shot would have deep variations of green in the leaves? I just thought I would throw in my .02 cents worth. :)

Actually, this has more detail and range than the original in color. this is our rainy season here in florida and this was a dark, gloomy day. The color image is pretty flat. Besides the tint I also imposed two photos to increase the look of the dynamic range. Looking at this in a bright room WOULD probably make this look a bit washed out.

I gasped when this image came up - seriously. I love the effect, it's almost like the image sparkles. It works really well with the old wood and the surrounding foliage. You are doing some cool, creative stuff!

I like this duotone effect. It works well for this type of imge. I might be tempted to crop a bit of the grass on the bottom off.
