Taken near El Marmol in Baja California December 2001.

1v, Provia 100f, evaluative. 28-135 IS lens, hand held.

As far as I know the truck is still there, though one antique car buff asked me for directions...

This is very cool! Doesn't look like it's going anywhere anytime soon!

I like this, nature reclaiming what it once owned. Nice shot!

Rich colors and a rusty cab---very striking. I like this a lot. Why would the right side be a bit darker than the left? What do think the letters on the door spell? Thanks for any other comments, Lillian.

Juli, what you see here is everything I know. :) This is at the end of a VERY bad road, an abandoned alabaster quarry/ settlement. People still drive down to collect chunks of stone, which litter the ground. I have no way of knowing if the truck dates back to when the place was inhabited, or was left behind by a scavenger when it failed there, though I suspect the former. All of Baja is strewn with abandoned cars of various ages, all with histories they'll never disgorge.

As for a difference in shading, I assume the sun hits it harder from the opposite side. There is no reason to assume the paint was evenly distributed at time of abandonment, either. I think the words are "Something Beach," but can't say for sure.

Thanks for looking!

Strong earth tones and a soft quality. Nicely done.
