American Staffordshire Terrier
Pond in Leslie, MI

I was happy to see that domestic animals in nature were acceptable in this forum as I frequently photograph dogs in the field...or the water. I have many shots of retrievers jumping into ponds and I have posted some of them elsewhere, but I decided to post something different and hopefully more creative as my first post in the new forum.

I was doing an early morning shoot with this dog and after taking a series of shots of the dog AND his reflection, I decided to shoot the reflection only as the water was so still. So how many of you thought at first glance that the image was upside down?

Canon EOS3 with 100-400IS, handheld, Sensia 100, spotmetered on the grass(not the reflection of the grass!)

Great shot Cheryl, i had an amstaff a few years back. A sad ending as cancer took him from me after only 2 yrs. No pity please! There very intelligent loveable animals with a very bad rap. And you dont walk these guys, they walk you :D very strong! I knew it was a reflection thanks to the grass at the top  nice one!!

Cool shot Cheryl. It looks like his eyes are closed as he really is taking time to "reflect"

No nits but could use 180 degrees CCW rotation. 8)

LOL, Steve's comment is funny. It does seem able 180 degrees out of level ;) This is creative!

Cheryl
I was considering making a remark about sunscreen and the UV exposure would be lessened if the dog were right way around but I know that the moderators here are pretty strict about "junk" like that so I better just keep quiet on this topic.

Creative and appealing shot, Cheryl. The only way to tell it's a reflection is by looking at the legs. I like it!
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.

Cheryl, the sky is gorgeous and the wind blowing the leaves of the trees is quite artistic. The horizon might need straightening, however.

Interesting view... The ripples gave it away as a reflection immediately for me.

It's nice that the dog's head is against blue sky (or its reflection).

I'm sure this is beautiful if you're a Staf fan, but I just don't find these dogs attractive in the least. (And that's nothing to do with their reputation...) I'm just more partial to other breeds.

Sandy cracks me up! Nicely done - the original that is. (I think he looks better reflected anyway!) And no question about which side was right - as long as I can read your name!

Well now I had a dog who looked just like this when I was growing up. She was the sweetest thing in the world. I really like the creative perspective here Cheryl. He sure looks like one happy dog..

I like the colors and the creativity. The exposure is quite good. The upside down-ness confuses me but then, I only have cat pic, so what do I know?
