I took this picture of Bill Overton at the recent Long Island Naturephotographers Hummingbird outing in Long Island. A beautiful setting on a bluff overlooking the ocean - an outing possible thanks to Ken Scheben who had organized it. Due to my limited luck with birds recently (and equipment) I start to focus on things which I can reach with what I have available.

Thanks Bill for all the excellent PS tricks you have shown me!

Long Island, August 23, 2003, Canon 1D, 28-135 mm @ 28 mm, ISO 200, f/22, 1/1000 s. PS on Mac laptop, Cropped from landscape to square, minor cloning out of branches and elements in the doorway

Thanks for looking.

(I will use smaller frames for future posts)

Hey, I remember that day. I think I saw one or two hummingbirds and I got a few blurry specs in some images that might not have been dust.

If it wasn't for all those pretty flowers, the hummingbirds wouldn't stay in the area. BTW, for the record, the area overlooks the Long Island Sound, not the Ocean.

Anne, you should post more often. :)

Anne, This is so clever and well executed. What a nice framing and all the lighting worked out so perfectly. Well done.

I've always considered Long Island Sound as part of the Atlantic Ocean. :?

Anne, I too find this very creative and I love it! I find it very interesting, almost as interesting as the fact that Tony never mentioned whether or not he liked the image :? ;)

Cute shot, Anne...I like the action you were able to grab and of course the perfect framing! :-)
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.

Neat shot, Anne. I like the framing and the concept! Seems a bit dark and maybe could use some USM. I can appreciate working from a laptop and thought you might like the feedback.

Anne, this is so clever, I like it a lot! Great choice in the square crop, I like how the little building has just a touch of space around it. The view right through the building is so cool. Very creative!
