St. Paul Island, Alaska

This was taken in August of this year on the Island of St. Paul. After shooting Puffins at reef wall, I turned around and saw this.

Neat photo. I agree with the composition crop suggested by Geo, removing a bit of the right makes this a stronger image.

I love sunset shots like this which make ordinary objects appear extraordinary. I like this as is and love the deep rich orange. :)

I agree with Geo about the centered subjects. Otherwise nice shot.

I am still pissed off that I chose not to take the shot when this ocurred. I was so intent on getting the boat directly in the sun seflection but had no shot that I gave up completely. Argh!!!!!

Well I am glad you didn't follow my stupidity and got this excellent shot :)

Holy cow! Look at the beautiful sun! The silhouette is also very well rendered.
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.

Greg,

Well done and I was thinking just like EJ until I saw his post and realized that sometimes it is better to shoot first and wait later. :D :D

Wow, greg, I'm still stunned that you saw the whole sun on St. Paul! The composition here works fine for me as is.

You saw the sun? I saw it once, too, about midnight. Neat shot!
