I had same issues today, especially when adding photos in a comment...
The preview looked fine.

Steve, The jpg uploaded OK since it displays in the editor, though the url is substituted when it should be displayed. I'll see what I can find out. Thanks - Gary

Glitch was the result of updates for mobile, and has been fixed by the interpid development team. Thanks for pointing out the problem!
