Twice today, I have posted replies on a thread, only to go back later and find they were posted a second time. Nothing done on my part to cause this. I’m wondering why. I haven’t noticed this happening to anyone else on other threads. Unfortunately, I have no way to delete the double post if someone else has posted a reply after me. This is an example and shows a delay in time between postings:

https://www.naturescapes.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=57&p=2559201#p2559201

Another was removed by me before any replies were posted.

This does happen occasionally, Joe, although I haven't seen such a large gap between duplications as shown in your example. If we spot them, we delete the duplicate. I have seen it happen when there are most users on the site at once which may cause a bit of a traffic jam, but I have asked our technical experts to have a look and let us have their view on this.

Thanks, Carol. Usually when I see it happen on other sites, it is impatience on the part of the poster because a post doesn't show up immediately, so they click on "submit" again. Like you said, these were a long time between.

Yes, I agree - but you don't strike me as that kind of guy, Joe.  :)

No positive explanations are showing up yet, Joe. It seems to be one of those odd things that only happens on rare occasions, which makes you somewhat special.

So there isn't really anything to tell you, other than there may have been an extremely rare fluctuation between the database, log and server time settings of as little as a couple of seconds, as you were posting, which resulted in this delayed duplication. If anything else comes to light we'll let you know.

It happened again this morning soon after I posted a reply. Sure looks ridiculous when that happens if you don’t catch it soon enough to delete it!!!

I can see you deleted a post, Joe.  Was this another 'delayed' duplicate, or a same time one?

It happened nearly at the same time. I didn’t notice the posting time on the second, but it was there really soon after posting the original. It happened here to Joe Smith (photoman4343) and it was the same time:

As we agreed before, same time ones are usually due to hitting the button twice, but I will send a note to our tech. experts again so they can check the logs etc. for any clues.

Thanks Joe.

I know the development team have had another look but have not come back with any further ideas yet. I can only ask them again if anything is showing up as to why this happens, other than repeat hitting of submit.

The reports so far from the technical team are showing that the repeat 'same time' posts are all due to the submit button being pressed more than once, whether the person submitting the post realises they are doing it or not. Delayed time repeats are so rare, they can't devote any more time to investigating that at the moment, but they will keep a check as time permits, Joe.
