Sending PM

I don't do this too often, but I tried recently to contact someone on NSN via PM and though I hit the submit button, my out going message appears in my outbox, not my sent box. Is this normal? I don't recall this behavior in the past when I sent a PM, but I would like to know if my messages are being sent. Thanks.
