It's not just a B&H thing, it's a PhaseOne thing.  You get the same discount regardless of how you buy it.  It's best to buy C1P direct from PhaseOne on their website since it will allow you to manage your activations and computers online rather than through the app.

I'm not sure if I'm looking at the upgrade page wrong for Capture one or not. But when I log in and check my upgrade path, it says $309 for me to own Capture One 21, but if I enter the subscription model, it's $168. There does not appear to be a discount for a C1 version 20 user. It seems the subscription model is the "cheapest" path.

I think you are looking at it wrong.  You are looking at brand new license pricing.  For an upgrade, log into your account and go to the upgrade.  It should be somewhere around $159 and you should be able to find discount codes online.  Using a discount my final price was $127

I'll have to explore further. I have logged in, I even entered my C1 20 license code in the "validate" form, and it still comes up with the same pricing. Full price for version 21 and directly below it, it says "Upgrade." Strange.

I do that and it shows no discount for the 21 upgrade. I can get a discount for the other options like subscriptions, but there is no discount for 21, and I do have Capture one 20. I'll have to email them I guess or subscribe. I hate the idea of subscription-based, but if I upgrade every year anyway, and it has a discount, I might as well.

I'm confused Scott. At $20 a month for the subscription model you pay $240 a year but the upgrade price from 20 to 21 is $160 full price... ??? Then if you wait, every two or three months there is a discount off of that for a week or two...

Well, it says on my upgrade page that it’s over $300 to upgrade but only $168 for a yearly subscription(discounted because I’m upgrading from #20). Which makes no sense that it shows no discount on the upgrade path to 21. I’ll have to email them and find out why theres no discount to upgrade to 21, it’s the only option that doesn’t have an upgrade discount.

Yeah, something is wrong with your account. The published upgrade price from 20 to 21 is $159.99. even my old v. 7 license can be upgraded for $199.

I emailed them about it and they said $309 is the upgrade price. Regularly $395 cdn!
It seems awfully expensive.

Ah I didn't realize we were discussing this for Canadians, everything I was telling you was US - I have no idea about what their offers and charges are in Canada. That's crazy that they charge so much more in Canada even with the exchange rate and VAT differences...

The pre-order upgrade-price  on Nov 3 2020 was CAD 219, about USD 167. That was after a 20% discount, meaning full price back then should have been about CAD 273.75. Don't know what's happening now.

What are the full prices for US now? USD349?

They must have increased their prices substantially. I quite like Capture one, but I'll either have to consider the subscription plan at $166 a year or even consider different software entirely. In general, I use Topaz products for NR and sharpening, but I like the raw development and colour I get with Capture One. Maybe I will have to consider a switch to Lightroom/Photoshop package. Funny how times change; I was adamant about not buying Adobe because the subscription model bothered me, now they look cheap compared! lol

They are offering an update to my very old C1 v. 7 license that I have for when I had more than 3 systems running C1 for $199 USD. The upgrade from v. 20 today is $160.

I ended up buying the subscription model at $166 CDN. I’ll see how that goes for now.
