I am haning to replace acrobat pro x.  I use it for reading acrobat documents, the ocr feature for making pdf's searchable, merging pdf files into one document and scanning new pdfs from a scanner.  I'd get DC pro but I cant see $14/mo.  Any suggestions for a substitute?

I use Nitro PDF Reader free instead of instead of Adobe PDF Reader far fewer hassles.  Nitro makes a Nitro Productivity Suite which I believe does of the same things Acrobat Pro X does (I've never used either of these apps).  Here's a link :
