Windows File Explorer Alternatives

Hello all,

I am thinking about getting an alternative to file explorer for Windows 7, don't need bells and whistles, just one that works - I get the green ribbon of death periodically which requires a restart to to get explorer working again.  I've heard it also afflicts Win10.  I've looked online for solutions but none of them actually work, the most common suggestion seems to be make all the folders configured for general items which does away with thumbnails, but I want it for my image folders.   I found a few online like explorer ++ which looks attractive, but wondering is anyone has experience with any of them?

I have used Directory Opus for quite a few years now as an Explorer replacement. It is more functional; it allows things like syncing, so it is more powerful. Its not free, but I find the cost worthwhile. You get a 2 month free trial and its an Aussie company.

X2 -- Directory Opus even reads RAW files, which can be handy for previewing.
