I've been using Itunes to sync my pdf camera manuals between my windows pc, my iphone and my ipad.  Now that itunes is being discontinued, I am thinking of moving to the adobe acrobat app instead of ibooks.  Any suggestion as to how to sync the three devices?

I would simply not delete iTunes and continue to use it until it fails you. It's good to know where to go if there is no choice and it fails. But until you have no choice, the app will continue to work as long as you don't update it or replace it.

BTW, on the Mac, technically iTunes hasn't handle books for a few years. (And the pdf's are books...) I still have one machine that has the old version of iTunes on it that continues to update my devices. I'm not looking forward to it breaking though it might with the planned change on Apple's side. Yet until it breaks, I'm planning to continue to use it.

As I read it, I think we will be fine. iTunes is basically just getting split into separate, more powerful apps. Video imbedded in article.

On apples web site they will allow you to download an older version of Itunes. It has books in it. It is for computers with older video cards which is why they have it available.

If all the files are in one folder, you can "add to library" from that folder and select all the pdfs in the folder. All of them will load at one time.

If you have the files in a bunch of folders, I'd copy them all into one for the initial load into iTunes.

I've got a bunch of folders.  What you are suggesting is the only thing I've come up with is to import one folder at a time and then select the group of just imported files and assign an author/genre to them.  Then move on to the next folder.  If I import en mass then I have to resort the files.  Either way is labor intensive.

Copy (not move) all the files into a single temporary folder with the operating system. Then import them into iTunes. Then spend time dealing with the updating of the information in iTunes unless you simply can't do without the author info in iTunes for a while.

I don't bother with updating author information as I simply organize them in collections once they are in iTunes and I'm willing to not have them organized for a while if I had to setup a new machine.

I would like to avoid having to sort 1300 files or at least make it as easy as possible. I am using author/genre simply as a sorting mechanism. I'll look at collections and see.
