ADOBE email

The post Adobe Scam referred to an email that some people received. 
I’m one of those people. 
I’ve read other news reports that indicate it’s not a scam. 

I would have commented on the previous thread but chose to ask about this in a new thread for obvious reasons -
I want to know what this is and what third parties would ‘sue’ me for using older versions (if that’s what I’m reading)

I really am more disgusted by Adobe every day. 
Can someone help with more information on this email?

What tortuous and complicated webs (pun intended) are woven. It is too bad unsuspecting users unknowingly get caught up in this.

If I correctly read the reports, this continuing Adobe nightmare is much more far-reaching, not only affecting those who cannot upgrade to the latest CC version due to hardware or OS requirements or for whatever reason: At least those subscribers who still have perpetual licenses of PS CS6 (and LR 6.x) that are hooked to the license manager after they got into the rental model seem to be locked out for reusing their CS6/LR6 versions once they terminate the subscription or upgrade their hardware because Adobe is invalidating the old license numbers. It's not just the known fact that you have to remove all Adobe software after the CC termination and afterwards reinstall the perpetual programs. In fact the old versions cannot be licensed and reused anymore by then.

I don't know if this is also justified by the legal problems with third partys reported above or just another move of Adobe to eliminate the use of the stand alone versions. I also don't know if the non-subsribers like me are affected, too, if they need to invest in a new computer and want to reinstall their purchased perpetual licenses. But I'm afraid they are likely screwed, too. Hopefully there will be a lawsuit.
Anyway, it's a strange "coincidence" - first the "tests" of new licensing and pricing, then the removal of most older PS and LR versions from the CC and now the lawsuit issue.
