This has ALWAYS been a part of Lightroom and Adobe RAW. It was originally down at the bottom, and the preview didn't update when you hovered over the name, but the feature has been there since the beginning. It was, and still is in my opinion, meant to profile the camera to produce the correct color in Lightroom/Photoshop when a picture is take in specific light. It requires a plugin and taking a picture with the camera of a specific color chart in the light you want to profile. It then saves a profile that you've named for use with that camera model and that light.

Used as Adobe wants you to, you choose the pictures colors from a list profiles that are most pleasing to you, rather than accurate color.
