So I am converting over to C1 after using LR for years to convert my RAW files and the process them in PS. One thing has me stumped. I was able to export one file as a 16 bit Tiff by changing the Process Recipe to 16 bit. I even tried to create my own recipe named 16 bit. Now however, every time I export a file it is only 8 bit. When I try to open in PS, Camera Raw opens?? It is driving me nuts.

Update, while I have not figured anything out yet, when I convert images from other events I am able to export a 16 bit TIFF and it opens as such in PS. For whatever odd reason the 2011 Petit Le Mans RAW files won't export as 16 bit TIFF's, I'm stumped.

I'm on vacation and can't really help figure this out right now but I'm sure I can debug the problem next week. Perhaps if you could give more detail. I'm not sure what you mean with "files won't export as 16 bit TIF" - the screen shot clearly shows the export as a 16 bit TIF.

Have you perhaps previously exported these files as 8 bit and Camera Raw is getting confused. Just for giggles try and rename a 2011 file and try that, see if that exports as you want.

Well I renamed a file and it finally exported as a 16 bit TIFF. I have never, ever worked with anything 8 bit until I change it to 8 bit and save as a jpeg.

Great. I suspect it’s probably due to one of the sidecar files that are added with CR or LR. E.J will probably know what it is..

OK, here's likely what's happening, the file had previously been opened through Bridge.  Adobe tags files previously opened in Bridge so even if you open them into PS from C1, Adobe intercedes and forces you into an 8 bit camera RAW based TIF.  You can fix that by opening Bridge, and going into Camera Raw Preferences and then going to TIF and JPEG Handling and disabling it.

Looks like that worked. As a side note, does anybody still use Bridge?

Thanks.
