Hi, I am looking for a desktop under $1000 and came across this CyberPower PC. All of the reviews are from a gaming standpoint and wanted an opinion from someone here using similar configuration for photo editing. I am looking to use this for atleast 4yrs.
The primary software I will be running (most of them at the same time) are Photoshop CC, Bridge, Photomatix and Canon RAW Editor (DPP). Apart for those tools I might be doing some video editing.
My current system is a 3yr old 8 GB HP system and it is becoming increasingly painful to use for any kind of photo editing.

Thanks in advance,
Manjunath

From the online benchmarks, the processor is a relatively poor performer with the equivalent speed Intel processor being approximately 65% faster.  The real showstopper is that the USB connectors are all USB 2 which is simply not going to make you happy - just getting your pictures from your flash cards to your computer could take eons.  The rest of the specs are decent although I think a 120GB system SSD is too small, 256 should be the bare minimum IMHO especislly since you will need to reserve a significant portion of it for the Photoshop Scratch disk.  I would definitely pass.

BTW, it is a decent gaming system because of the very nice graphics card - which is about 50% of the cost of this system.

Yeah, it's not the brand, just that particular configuration which is purely designed for good gaming graphics, not really for anything that has a high I/O requirement.

Check out these two sold by MicroCenter. I have had no experience with this brand, but MicroCenter has built three desktops for me over the years and all three have performed flawlessly.

They might have other desktops that better match your needs and budget. .
