Sharpening for projection images

One of the most subjective processing tasks to me is applying the chosen sharpening method and amount for web, print, or projection.
In just about 100% of my bird and wildlife images, I only apply USM or Smart sharpening (besides slight Raw conversion sharpening) to the subject and never to foreground, background, sky, etc.
For HD projection images without seeing how they will look in advance, I have no insight into what level of sharpening to apply - of course dependent on each image (noise, exposure, detail factors). Not my projector and no access in advance.
I can guess I would just go slightly higher than my typical web monitor level but nowhere need the level for print. Suggestions?
